Dvorak

This mainly for Qain, since you mentioned on one of the computex videos that you use dvorak. I've started using it like four months ago, and I pretty much like every thing it has to offer (except moving the HJKL keys away from each other). So, 1: have you developed any new pains or strains on you right hand since you started using it? There is a serious right hand bias for dvorak. 2: have you remapped "wasd" to ",aoe", or do you switch back to qwerty (via alt-shift, or something of the like) for gaming? 3: Did you make the switch cold turkey? or did you gradually do it? And finally, 4: what made you decide to make the switch in the first place?

PS: I'm interested to hear how you fare with colemak.

where does one buy a dvorak keyboard, or what one are you using, because i really want to start typing with one!

if you have a mechanical keyboard you should be able to switch the keys to the Dvorak layout and then remap the keys or simply choose Dvorak in the keyboard settings depending on your OS.

I think there was a recent thread on this.

Technically, you don't have to buy a new keyboard to use dvorak.  You can do it on your current keyboard, just switch your keyboard layout to dvorak in your OS.  In windows its "Change keyboards or other input methods" under "Clock, Language, and Region" in your Control Panel.  Just click "change keyboard", then "Add", then under your desired language set it to Dvorak.

You can either leave your keyboard as it is and concentrate on touch typing, or you can physically pop your key caps off and move them into a Dvorak layout:

Like relinquis said, you can just switch your keycaps around, and change the keyboard layout in settings. Most sculpted keyboards will require you to get a new set of keys to keep the rows from being all cattywompus, but a model M (most of them anyway), the keys are just plastic covers that can be swapped around with out worrying about what level they would go on.

If it matters at this point, I'm typing on a CM Storm with the stealth keys and green cherries. I also use a Model M, and I just replaced my green alps Ducky (with the CM Storm). The CM and the Ducky are using a sculpted keycap, so the layout is qwerty physically, but I agree, it does help to learn touch typing if you keep it qwerty.

ill dig up a spare keyboard i have laying around. cant do that to my K70 becuase its my main gaming keyboard. but thanks for the advice and suggestions :D!
