Hi Guys

I am looking for a modem which does the least possible processing to the signal i get, so it just converts it to a readable signal for my router which is an ASUS RT-AC66U. I dont want the TP-Link TD-8817 because thats what i already have and its utter shite, i cant get any of my ports to open now matter what especially with port 21 as an FTP. In essence just a dumb modem so that my router does all of the security work etc

To completely bypass it, from the modem, put your router into a DMZ, or De-Militarized Zone.

Put the TP-Link modem in bridge mode. Bridge mode puts it in modem only pass everything to the router mode.
