Duel monitor set-up

Hello, i have just bought a new pc with the GeForce GTX 650 in it, and the connections are 1x DVI 1x DVI-D and 1x Mini HDMI, ive had my first monitor hooked up too the DVI slot for about a month now and it works fine.

But ive tried to add a second monitor using the DVI-D and thenever i try to connect i get the "Signal cable disconnected" message for a few seconds and then it goes to standby.

I have unplugged, and pulegged in countless times and followed every peice of advice on the web so far, and NOTHING!

and help is welcome!

Thanks -Matt

plug the monitor in, right click your desktop and go to resolution, and click the detect button in the window

make sure your monitor has the dvi input selected

how would i go about doing this? the monitor dosent even show up in the personalize>display settings>monitors

alot of the time the choice of input connection is selected on the actual display (monitor buttons)

hmmm... that makes me think it's a hardware problem, rather than settings. try swapping the cables between monitors. leave the cables plugged into the pc, but just switch them.

i think ive found the problem guys, i thinkit could be the adapter i bought, which is annoying since it only came today :(

adapter? why are you not using a DVI cable?
