Dual Xeon XEON E5-2687W V4 WS for VFX Dynamic Simulation - Maya, 3DSMax

Hi,
Iam Ajay, Planning to build a PC for VFX. I wanted a higher clock and more cores. Iam stuck with the CPU Cooler. I would also like to know if there is any compatibility issues in what I have selected.

  1. Proc: XEON E5-2687W V4 x 2 No. (Initially only 1 proc)

  2. MoBo: Z10PE D16 WS

  3. Ram: Kingston DDR4 2400 ECC Part: KVR24R17D4/32MA 32GBx16 dimms (Initially starting with 32GB x4 dimms)

  4. GPU: Quadro M4000. Also can i use along with this my existing Quadro FX 1700 on the asus Mobo.

  5. CPU Coolers: MasterAir Maker 8 (Will there be any problem with M4000 and adjacent ram slots)

  6. Power Supply: Not sure if 1000w is enough but calculated in some website and concluded to these.
    a. Cooler Master Vanguard 1000 - Fully Modular 1000W 80 PLUS Gold Gaming PSU
    OR
    b. CORSAIR RMx RM1000X 1000W 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Power Supply

  7. Hard disk: As of now 2TB Sata - 2No.s

  8. CPU case Iam totally clueless.
Shortlisted these below. Please let me know which is better. Confused because not sure which will have heat sinc clearance for MasterAir Maker 8

Processors,CPU cooler and Ram Iam importing from US. Rest I will be buying in India itself. The ram and procs are not available in here.

Please let me know if there is any compatible issues Iam getting into. Also please let me know if there will be any disturbance for adjacent Ram and Quodra M4000 because of the MasterAir Maker 8. I would also like to know can the Z10PE D16 WS MoBo handle the weight of MasterAir Maker 8 CPU Cooler...and lastly which case to buy

Thanks,
Ajay

Pricey but probably worth it for you.

I guess it is out of the question for you to buy used parts but I still want to mention the E5 2670 processors. Those have 8 cores, 16 threads, 2.6GHz to 3.3GHz, Sandy Bridge architecture (2012), and they are dirt cheap on ebay right now. I picked up two for 180,- Euros including tax and shipping.

OK, on to your questions:
Compatibility looks good for the most part.

I would not go for the MasterAir Maker but instead use the Noctua NH-U12DXi4. Those are specifically designed for multi CPU boards so you won't have any issues.

You will need a power supply with two EPS connections. At least when you put in the second CPU. My Seasonic Platinum 1050 definitely has two. It is not the quietest thou. I don't know about the two PSUs you mentioned so make sure whatever you buy has two EPS connections.

I don't know how good the support for multiple GPUs in your software would be but at least it should not be a problem.

Case: I like my Nanoxia Deep Silence 5 A LOT! It should handle the SSI-EEB easily. The only concern would be the standoffs. If you want to go crazy the Deep Silence 6 is a real monster and made for dual CPU systems with space for crazy amounts of storage and tons of airflow in mind.

Thanks for the valuable info. Ill surely follow ur recommendations on the SMPS and clu cooler.
And thanks for mentioning the 2670, but Iam keen on the higher clock speeds, I know 2687 is damm expensive, but have no other options.
cabinet I have checked the Deep Silence 6. Its super cool, but sadly its not for sale in India. Have to adjust with whats available.
