Dual Xeon vs 4930k

I am planning on building a workstation for after effects, a little premiere and a little 3d work which should i go with?

Xeon's might sound like the right choice for after effects, but everywhere else, especially gaming it lacks. The 4930k might even be better for after effects too. Xeon's are meant more for huge NUC's or servers, not after effects. And they are very cost ineffective. If you buy a 4930k and waste the money you would have wasted on the Xeon's on ram and a Fire pro card. :D

If the programs you are going to use will actually use all the cores, then go xeon. Otherwise I'd wait for the X99 chipset 5930k to come out. That will be 8cores 16 threads (confirmed) so that may be a better choice than either.

Exactly, that 5930k is going to be a monster, even though I prefer AMD that cpu would make me switch to intel once again.

If I had a budget that allowed for Lga 2011, I'd be drooling over the 5930k right now.

What 3d program do you use? Most are primarily single-threaded.
