Dual Xeon Build?

I was looking on Ebay, and I saw that I can pick up an X5550 for $12.99, so I thought it might be fun to do a build with 2 X5550's, just for a secondary system. My budget is about $220

I put this list together. I have some hard drives and a gtx 750ti that I'll put in it

Tell me if I'm crazy and/or if I can improve the build for around the price point

If you build it , they will compute!!!

Oh god, you got some cheap parts there! I would love to build a visualization server on that platform too.

My main question is why?

What do you plan to do with this thing?

Because he can. That should be enough. It's always nice to play around with server grade stuff. Even if it's cheap.

As @Garfield said, because I can. I'll probably use it for virtualization. VM's don't work very well on quad-core APU's

Dam those Intel Xeon X5550's are cheap (there basicly I7 920's) i might grab one to build a another back up pc >_>

I've looked into it as well. For some reason those ebay sellers offer international shipping (like 17 bucks from Texas to Germany). Damn that will make a nice project some day.

The reasoning behind that is really: "We do what we must because we can" (Apperture Science)

I think the HP z800 series uses them but I haven't seen one under 499 for a long time. I still got a few revisions lower a HP/Gateway XW8600, they can be got with 2 (dual) 5160 for under 100-200.00 otherwise I'd look at z600 or the z800. I think the z400 series are single socket.

All of the parts are ordered! They'll be here by Monday!!
