Hey all! I hope this is in the right thread.
Anyway, I just wanted to pick your brains on if a dual pc streaming setup is worth it. My current pc specs are:
CPU: AMD FX 8350 no OC
GPU: Gigabyte GTX 770
RAM: 16 GB
Mobo: Asus Sabertooth 990FX
PSU: PC power and cooling 950w
So that is my main computer, and for a secondary encoding computer I want to get this: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3nGJO
So my question: is it worth it?
I am a very serious streamer, getting close to 5k followers, and I want to have the most professional cast possible. Problem is, it's gonna be $1000 with all of the parts needed, including the capture card, monitor etc.
If I get partnered, I want to be able to stream at 1080p 60 fps if possible, AT LEAST 720p 60 fps without taking too much of a fps hit. Thanks guys!
copy the perma link in pcpartpicker..... for streaming a fx 6300 or fx 8320 is really good.
My bad, sorry about that. But yes, I selected the 6300 for the cpu. Would the extra $50 for the 8320 be worth it for just encoding?
I don't think it would be worth it. Even at stock speeds the 8350 is fantastic at streaming and encoding. With an OC it is even better.
You will have no problem streaming 720p or 1600X900 at 60 FPS. Idk about 1080p because my internet connection was too shit to do that, but I really doubt it would be that difficult for that CPU.
1. you don't need lp ram for the hyper 212 evo, i looked at my socket 1150 (h87 performance ASRock) and normal profile ram works fine, there is team vulcan ram for 62$ which is also lp btw. fx 8320 on that motherboard doesn't work. it will work but you're gonna melt it. 64gb ssd is pretty bad imo. how more storage how greater the reliability. more then 70% storage on a ssd will make it really slow.
i don't know anything about encoding but a m5a99x r2.0 m5a99fx R2.0 or 990fx-ude Revision 4 is good for the fx 8320. but that's more than 50$. i don't know if you play the games at this pc but 60fps on 720p for a couple of years is probably not gonna work on a gtx 750.
This is not gonna be used for gaming. I am using it for streaming encoding only. I don't know what you mean by the 750 not working for a very long time. The 750 will hardly be utilized in the pc, the main thing that is gonna be used is the cpu. I won't even OC it.
Alright, thanks man. What I might do is buy some really good cooling and just OC it, and get some more pwoer of it. I would prefer to not do liquid cooling, would the Noctua DH-14 the giant 2 fan air cooler work ok/
That is what I would recommend. I don't see the point of buying essentially another gaming PC just to encode. You could just buy a separate render/capture card and use that if you were really worried or wanted better performance.
That being said an 8350 especially OCed will not need one.
Yeah the Noctua coolers are excellent. The NH-U14s is also very good. They usually do a bit better or about the same as closed loop 240mm WC unless you go to something crazy and grab a Kraken X60 or the like. That keeps my 4.8Ghz 8350 at 55C under stress testing. It is a beast but the Noctua will do an excellent job as well.
Okay thanks man I am gonna go with the Noctua because it seems to be insanely quiet, and considering my PC is literally 2 feet from my microphone, that is important. Thanks for your help man. :)
oh ok. you could use a old gpu from an older system to save money?
Yeah, your current build is pretty good for streaming. OC the FX-8350 with a Noctua NH-D14 or high performance AIO, and enjoy.
