im looking to build a dual cpu MD for 3D rendering and modeling, and also gaming on the side. ive come across these MD's
Z10PE-D16 WS Z10PE-D8 WS Z10PE-D16/4L SSI EEB
I dont know what the difference is. are there any other MD's that can be recommended for this build apart from the above mentioned. Also do all dual cps require a full tower? I am hoping there should be some mid towers that can take an E ATX board. Is an E ATX and a EEB the same size?
Interesting that no one has responded. I built the following:
ASUS Z10PE-D8 WS SSI EEB Server Motherboard Dual Intel Socket 2011-3 (2) Intel Xeon E5-2620 v3 Haswell 2.4GHz 6 x 256KB L2 Cache 15MB L3 Cache (24 CORES HYPER THREADED) 32GB (4 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM ECC DDR4 2133 EVGA GEFORCE GTX980 Superclocked 4GB GDDR5 256bit, DVI-I, DP x 3 WINDOWS 10 PRO 64Bit (4) 24" ASUS Monitors 1920 x 1080
My only issue is I installed my Windows 10 Pro (you need pro for dual CPU's) on a 128GB Samsung 850 Pro EVO drive on a SSATA (6GB) connector. The drive is way too small so I'm looking at a 512 M.2 drive. I use the system for 3D architectural design and photo renderings and would like Wendel ETAL to offer up some performance tweaking suggestions.
I'm also wondering if adding 32GB more ram and perhaps a second GTX 980 in SLI mode would add additional performance for the cost.
Please feel free to offer suggestions and or questions. Thanks
thanks for your reply, and sorry for the late response. I havent been on the form since there wasnt any feed back. I dont think im at a point to make suggestions, but your specks look good for a render intensive machine. I need on at home for cad modeling and rendering. is the ASUS Z10PE-D8 stable from when you built it. what is the differnece between ASUS Z10PE-D8 and ASUS Z10PE-D16. thanks.
