DSLR Camera Shooting Slow Motion Help

Well my question is.. I want to shoot slow motion stuff. A family member of mine has a canon dslr camera but she does not know the model of it and i am not home to check. But if i want to shoot in slow motion i do believe i have to set the video to 60FPS or higher correct? I was being told i would have to get a different lens for the camera because the one on it right now is for portrait photos... Do i have to buy an expensive lens for just this simple thing? All i want to do is shoot video at 60 or higher frames.

You dont have to buy any lenses (not sure who would tell you that). The model of the camera literally on the from of the camera.

As for video. Yeah record on a high fps and play back slower (may require editing if the camera doesnt have any slomo features built in)

Well its canon thats all i was told lol. Not sure what canon. Its an older one so i doubt its firmware will have slow motion features built in but i might be surprised. But what you are saying is that i can just record with the highest amount of frames the camera can handle and edit with what? I only have a windows machine for my editing. I have Adobe CS6 Master Collection installed on all my machines so i have like After effects and assortments.

you need either a high speed camera or record in 60fps and slow it down in post processing.

slow it down how?

a video editor?

Yeah i understand that but what i was asking from you was which software are you referring to?

Thanks for the video link. Ill have to look at editing after i get the footage and see if the camera i have access to can even handle 60 or higher.
