Ok so my brother just got a drum machine and he’s really into making music.
I have no knowledge on music instruments.
He can plug in headphone and hear what he is creating.
How does it work to connect a drum machine to computer?
Is it a midi to usb cable?
Or like some device then to pc?
Just to note I don’t know a thing about music creation and connecting to pc.
Do you have a picture. Must drum machines use midi to usb. If you can find the product on Amazon or any website it will tell you all the connections on it.
for my old drumcomputers i send it to an audio interface/preamp then to pc, how i set it up depends on what i'm feeling like using it, midi or non midi. I like hooking it up directly with a quarter jack to mini jack but it's not real healthy for the soundcard, it can sound cool tho...just not worth destroying hardware. for my novation launchkey it's just usb, simple. most modern electronic music gear is real simple to connect to pc
Thanks for the reply. It most definitely doesn't have a USB port on the back but it has a MIDI Out and MIDI in. And it only has to MIDI ports. Not three.
So then would it be just a MIDI to USB adapter I take it?
For some reason I thought it would be MIDI to some sound device then to PC via USB.
While I do not mean to scare you in to looking. Music equipment even basic stuff can get scary pricey pretty fast. On the flip side if you know what to do and look for you can do it cheap too.
Actually, i've had a similar question. Is there a way to hook up a guitar/bass to a pc via usb? I have one of those wires that comes with the game 'Rocksmith'. I've been wanting to be able to play directly into my pc without having to record for a cleaner sound.
just 1/4 jack cable into an audio interface with usb out, simple there's a very cheap and simple behringer one, it doesn't have a preamp or anything, just a limiter, but it's like 20 bucks and small.
I already have a 1/4 jack/usb cable. I was wondering if I need anything in between. I know when I play rocksmith the game functions like an amp. Is there an application similar to that unrelated to the game?
yup :) guitar rig is ok but i really do like amplitube when i'm not hauling around amps. Lot's of top and cab/speaker configurations possible. The fx you'll need to look around for a bit too though. Whenever i use an amp emulator i don't always have my pedalboard with me either, but you can use analog pedals with it just fine too. For that personal flavour. haha.
