This is an example of why one wouldn't trust a third party to take care of something important for themselves.
It isn't resource intensive to run a little server at home, to run yourself an e-mail server and an FTP server, a service which everyone could use to save their files. You can enable web browsing so one could browse the FTP directories.
I really don't feel sorry for the ones damaged.
