I’ve got an HDMI only thinkpad that will not send signal to the monitor over DP to HDMI cable. I have tried two cables now, with the latest one being DP 1.4 to HDMI 2.0B by Club 3D. USB peripherals work fine. Am I missing something?
You need a USB powered HDMI to dp adapter

Jumping on this thread: I just tried the Club3d DP 1.2 to HDMI 2.0 Active adapter (CAC-2070) with no success. I was about to try CAC-1080 (DP 1.4 to HDMI 2.0b Active) but this isn’t USB powered.

This is confusing, does the thinkpad has HDMI or DP?
Cause the adapters mention do DP to HDMI and will not do reverse HDMI to DP.
For that you would need something like “HDMI to DisplayPort Adapter (CAC-2330)” or HDMI to DisplayPort 4K60Hz M/F Active Adapter (CAC-1331)"
If you check them you will see they have USB connector that is used to power them.
The CAC-1085 is USB powered, hopefully that helps.
