Domain name, use it for mail, but not for website hosting

Okay, so I apologize for the title being confusing.

Here is what I'd like: I am going to buy a new domain, and I want to use it for my email account. But I don't want to run my own mailing server. (If you think I really should, I'll consider it.)

However, I have a server set up to run the website itself.

Is there a way to get just mail functionality through a hosting company, without paying the extra for the capabilities to run a website?

I doubt I can, but just curious. If there is no way, I'll consider making my own mail server.

Should be possible. Mail servers are rarely the same ones that serve the web page.

@wendell made a video getting into the basics of setting one up.

You have to set up a sub-domain only for mail use, then redirect that sub-domain to the mail service you pay for.

If I have understood you correctly it should be no problem. For instance I have a domain name that points to my personal cloud, while also using it for personal email. I use a paid ProtonMail account that allows me to use a custom domain for email.

Zoho is a email provider that allows you to use a custom domain for free, but there are many options.

Another one is http://mailbox.org also good, I've been testing it out. It's cheaper than proton mail and has more features. (Mail, calander, notes, docs, xmpp(jabber), encryption and phone support, 2fa, etc.)
