Hello guys/gals, so I want to get into doge coin mining but i have some questions. Ok, so i mined for only about 1 and a half days and i stopped due to some concerns. So as i mine my GPU (Sapphire 7870XT) on 14 intensity the temp is around 65 Celsius and the fans are going at about 45 %. However once i was away and I came back to my computer and my screen was blue, the computer was still running, however my screen was blue and i could not do anything. So I stopped mining for now until maybe someone can tell me what happened. I do have my GPU overlocked to 1185 MHz so maybe that is was caused it. Anyway, one of my questions is, is it safe to mine for a couple of hours then stopping and playing games or is it safer to continue mining and just turn the intensity down? Since i am not sure when I will replace my GPU my biggest concern is it dying on me. My power supply is a 530 watt 80 plus bronze if that could help anybody in confirming any problems i might have. Any suggestions on what i can/cannot do? Sorry if this is in the wrong section, I'm kind of a dingus in that regard haha.
It could be the PSU. What CPU do you have?
I have an AMD 6300 stock clock at 3.5 GHz
Whats your hash rate at the moment? I would back off the oc on that 7870. Tweak a few settings and research the best settings for your specific graphics card. Personally, I'd rather have stable 24/7 mining than a higher hash rate with occasional crashes. Cpu does not matter when mining and your psu is more than capable of running your system
i downclocked my gpu now back to stock clock (975 MHz) and I get about 305-310 MH/s flat with temps ranging from 55 - 58 celsius, my side panel is open because it makes my temps cooler ( due to my case "Rosewill Challenger" not being the best with airflow) but i'm gonna run this overnight to see if I can mine over night without any crashes. the temps are better than before and also im getting more kh/s with this clock back down to stock.
i run my rig 24/7. it seems to like being at a constant temperature. probably due to the expansion and contraction of the components when going from idle (30C) to full load (85C)
i just started mining dogecoin tonite and i only get 300kh/s if i wanna keep my hd 7850 under 80 degrees
That blue screen was an error because of your overclock. You should be able to mine with higher intensity. I'm using 2 R9 270x's (similar to the 7870) with intensity of 19, geting 920kh/s with them. No blue screens, no HW errors.
