I'm planning on geting the gigabyte ga-78lmt-usb3 motherboard but I'm not sure if it supports 1600mhz ram. On the gigabyte website it says it supports 1333mhz+ (O.C.) and some forums say that it does support 1600mhz ram. Does it support the faster ram? And if it doesn't is there a noticeable difference in speed?
The CPU I'm planning on getting is the phenom II x4 965.
It supports 1333Mhz ram (and the phenom is native to 1333Mhz ram) but you can clock up the ram to 1600Mhz in the bios at a simple click
I had a similar Gigabyte motherboard (the non usb3 version) and It didn't support 1600mhz ram, i tried everything, I set it up on the bios and it wouldn't work. Check the gigabyte website before buying this.
it means that you need to overclock ur ram to get to 1333.
