Basically I'm going to need to move my hard drive slot so a giant graphics card will fit properly, which I already know how to do, but I notice in my case the one of the fans are already sitting directly next to my harddrive and I think blowing on it constantly which makes me not sure if it would be okay to move it. I don't really know how to go about moving the fan, but would I be able to move the harddrive without moving the fan? Basically I would be moving the harddrive up just a few inches and not in direct sight of the fan, is this okay?
yea the hard drive just needs air exchanged around it , it doesn't need air directly on it like a heatsink.
As long as there is some air movement, you are fine.
For the most part, it doesn't matter. If you look at the BackBlaze article about hard drive temps, it basically says that you don't need to worry about the temperature of the drives.
Their data only goes up to 38c, which is ~100f. My personal rule of thumb is to keep temps below 40c and above 25c.
Typically, I make sure air is flowing over the drives when the system is operational, and I don't put the system in an area that has no ambient airflow.
TLDR; just make sure your drives have some airflow over them.
NO not really they barely generate any heat and they will never reach their temp threshold. I have my SSD in a nest of cables and my hard drive that is no where near a fan and its been working fine.
