Does KVM add latency?

Hi. I am looking to setup KVM for my home setup. Currently I have 2 mice and keyboards.

Will adding a KVM add additional latency mouse/keyboard in games? I ask b/c I play Valorant and other competitive FPS games.

On a side question, will KVM be able to support 270hz 1440p with no additional latency as well? Ideally I would do keyboard/mouse first but if I can do my entire setup with KVM that will be a great space saver.
