Does everyone just hate AMD or what?

Why was the hype for the 980ti so huge? Like EVERY reviewer did at least 2 review samples of the card, some as much as 4. But, the 980ti is pretty much a more reasonable re-brand of the titan x, and yet everyone LOVES THIS. But when AMD FINALLY launches the long awaited 300 series, nobody, and I mean NOBODY does a review on ANY of these cards. Is the Fury hype so big that it trumps the 300 series? Why is it R7 370 instead of R9 370 like last gen? How does the 390x stack up to the 290x? Are any of the cards refreshes like last gen? Are the 4GB versions worth it?

I don't think anyone has reviewer samples yet and almost the entire 300 series are rebadges whereas the 980ti did have some changes. The Fury X hasn't even officially launched for anyone to buy yet but there will be reviews of the card I'm sure on this channel and the other channels as well. Patience is key, its been a hot minute since AMD has released a new card so surely everyone can live a few more days or a week longer.

I'm already awaiting Linus's 34 5/8ths way xfire config or whatever he will do with them lmao

Nvidia ships a ton of samples to reviewers. AMD has a short supply of cards so the reviews are limited.

Yeah, pretty much. AMD cards get some love because of the lower price but the CPUs get flamed by everyone and their mother, even on these forums I've noticed ppl would rather put an i3 than anything from AMD.
I find that sad, because AMD invented a lot of things we use like x64 and dual core, but hey the Intel runs 20% better in a sponsored benchmark so f AMD...

Guys the NDAs for the Fury cards have not yet or just expired. That is why there are no reviews yet. For the rebranded ones there are already reviews out there:

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/amd-radeon-r9-390x-r9-380-r7-370,4178.html

I wouldn't say its that bad. I think anyone agrees that a hex or octacore from AMD is better than an i3. But if gaming is all someone does than an i5 would be much better because of the single thread performance. This is coming from someone who has a hex and octacore from AMD in two machines. And @turin231 is right, I didn't think about the NDA's

Weird. I'd take the fx 6300 over an i3 any day. Some times 8320s can be had for the price of an i3.

As for the whole AMD bashing thing, I love them as a company and haven't noticed any bashing whatsoever except for within the AMD vs Intel category.

I haven't seen any AMD hate on this forum. But, you can't say that AMD are better in each and every circumstance. There are other considerations, beyond price/performance.

This is the real line-up for the 300 series

  • R7-360 = R7-260 (Bonaire Pro Renamed to Tobago Pro)
  • R7-370 = R7-265 (Pitcarin Pro Renamed to Trindad Pro)
  • R9-380 = R9-285 (Tonga Pro renamed to Antigua XT)
  • R9-390 = R9-290 (Hawaii Pro Renamed to Grenada Pro)
  • R9-390x = R9-290x (Hawaii XT Renamed to Grenada XT)

No one hates AMD. people just dislike when AMD tries to re-sell us the things we already own. a few examples are the FX-9370, the FX-9590, 7970, the 7870, 7850k the list goes on. and say what you will that Nvidia is guilty as well. but jesus christ not as often as AMD. and to answer your quick question why the R7-370 is not named the R9-370. it's because it's not a re-brand of the old 7870/270 cards. it's a rework of the 265 which performs less than the old 270.

As for reviews and benchmarks, we already know how it's going to perform. a tiny bit better than the old 200 series. no one is excited for this current line-up. we are excited for the Fury. because it's new and we genuinely have no clue how it's going to perform.

And to comment on AMD's current state with Processors, I've said it too many times, AMD should of skipped excavator. there was no point in fixing up an ancient archtiecture that is Bulldozer/Piledriver. most of the problems AMD is having is their own fault. also for massive LULZ if anyone knows their spanish. the R9-380 is renamed "Antigua". but in English "Antigua" means Ancient lmao

Do you mean Antique?

No Antique we all know means ancient. "Antigua" which is a spanish word. also means "Ancient"

Your quote sir ;)

TTL allready did a nice review about the 390X.
Even the fact that these cards are rebrands, they are still improvements in performance overall.
I think the way it can keepup with the 980 is still very good.

Yes intensely. Every morning when I get up I start by really intensely hating on AMD for at least five minutes before I can get on with the day and at the mere mention of an AMD product will send me into a rage and a half hour long tirade about communist hacker hardware.

The rational answer:
I do not hate hardware manufacturers unless they lie to me (I'm looking at you Nvidia and your 970) and even then I do not subscribe to the idea of assuming malice where incompetence or a stupid mistake will suffice as an explanation.

It doesn't hurt to be objective lol

Price/Performance it is a Very good card. Unlike the Titan X

This is not new. Fanboys love to Jump on anything Nvidia does and praise them. when GK110 ruled there was a lot of hype for every card that used that core aswell.

Because the 300series is mostly a rebadge of the 200 series. the 300 series outperforming its predecessor by a little bit but it's not really NEWS worthy. especially not hype worthy

Yes/No You havn't heard anything yet because NDA has not lifted yet

Yeah, official launch is the 24 I think?

The 390 may be a rebadged 290, but I would get one solely for that cooler :).

you know what's really sad. there are still a bunch of R9-390/390x cards that have gotten new coolers that still haven't a backplate yet. there is about 2 or 3 vendors that ship with a backplate, they are MSI, Gigabyte, and Powercolor.
