Does CAS Latency matter?

I'm having trouble choosing RAM because I have the idea that I need RAM with a CAS Latency of 9 minimum without really knowing how much CAS Latency changes performance. I know you can overclock RAM from 1600 to 1866 or higher so the speed doesn't matter much. Halp?

CAS, IMO, is more important that the size and speed of the RAM, really anything lower than 10 is good to have.

I prefer this.

You don't need more than 8Gb for gaming. It's just overkill.

Well, considering how cheap this RAM is, why not? I might do light editing so it could come in handy.

Fair enough, go for it thne.

Also it does have low heat spreaders which I need since I'm gonna also get a Zalman CNPS12x CPU cooler and that thing is huge.

Seems like it's pretty small. So it should fit.

Can I haz ur opinion?

Looks great! just up the PSU a bit to a 650 or even 750 watt. Te 7950 eats a lot of watts

Hmm..I'd swap the i5 for an FX 8350/6300. But that's just me. See what other people say, but a solid build anyway.

it does use more than the 680 but you can have a 3850 and a 7979Ghz edition on a 650w PSU, CPUs and GPUs will continually use less juice as new gennerations are developed so you should be good with a 650w or a 750w

9-10-9 1866 1.5v 2x4GB for 44$ and can be combo's with a lot of things including CPUs and it will shave off about 10-15$

I've seen rigs with a 500 watt but I guess it is better to spend an extra 20 for 200 watts. I'll change it up right now.

AMD mobo's don't have PCI-E 3.0. Also I've kind of been converted to an Intel fanboy secretly but I wouldn't stand up or get a paper cut for them.

I am looking for ways to shave money since I don't know what my budget will be when I do build this but 80 bucks for 16 gigs. Can't pass that up.
