Does anyone here like rap?

this song is heavy and heavy ..

I've been listening to Dylan Owen for a few years, he has some pretty meaningful stuff.

Yeah. The late 80's to the late 90's was the golden age of hip hop. I grew up listening to 2Pac, Biggie, Dre, Jay-Z, Mos Def, Nas etc. back when they were putting out some truly unique stuff. And now that I've made the obligatory "back in my day" reference, I'll go back to my Matlock and yelling at those damn kids to get off my lawn.

Does this count?

Some more chilled out rap.

Listen to rap daily. Like early hip hop and NY mixtape rappers. Fabolous, Pappose, Wu, Jada, RR, Rakim, Nore, Coremega, etc. Can't get down with most new stuff if its not out of NY.

For the most part, I don't like rap since the 90's. TBH I only really like the big names. Not a massive rap buff. For me I need a proper melody. A simple beat won't do it for me.

Probably my favourite rap tunes.

Oh and for LOLs.

The begining of the end for NWA brought beef between Ice Cube and the rest of the NWA crew. There was some back and forth diss songs between them. Here the song to end it all. There was no comeback to this song. :)

Hands down the best diss song of all time.

thanks for the first song

I discovered these guys a couple of months ago - they're from my home town. They have a fairly varied back catalogue already but don't take themselves too seriously.

Flame Griller - homage to Beastie Boys

There's a great re-mix of "(No Such Thing as) Free Cheeze" on one of their EPs - my favourite song for the last couple of months!

Hashfinger remix - Free Cheeze

I actually rap/produce believe it or not (I won't drown you in links unless you ask).

To guys saying they don't like rap, I get it if it's just not you, but to those who don't like it because of bad examples, you gotta know that there's a lot of incredible stuff out there. The only thing is, you have to find it for yourself. Hip Hop was made to give a voice to those that didn't have one, and because of that, there's a lot of different types of hip hop for a lot of different types of people.

Also understand it's not always about the lyrics and can also be about the charisma, the delivery, the creativity, or the backstory of the artist that makes them successful. Even guys I don't like I respect because I don't know what they had to go through to make it and I don't know how much personal meaning might be in their lines, or whether they're just trying to chill and celebrate their success.

All in all, just like any other genre, there's gonna be a lot of stuff you like but have to find, and there's gonna be a lot of stuff you're just not feeling. But you shouldn't let the things you aren't feeling speak for the whole genre, or dismiss an entire genre of music because then you're just putting yourself in a box and limiting your experiences ;).

E-Dubble is one of the few Rappers I don't hate.

First song i've heard from e-dubble in a long time, still sounds identical 4 years on. Not sure if thats a good or bad thing...

Dude I remember the real, real old stuff. Oh man those were the days. Only way you can find that stuff is the deep depths of soundcloud...
