Thanks a bunch!
Personally, I don't. There are very few rap songs that I can appreciate, and there is way too much crap to sift through to make it worth my while. One of such songs:
Outside of that, If I listen to rap, it's usually what I call "YouTube Rap" - rap made on youtube, usually as a tribute to something else. Prime Examples:
But outside of that, I don't really have love for the rap game. Too many people trying to be something they're not.
I understand how you feel. The high saturation of the rappers is overwhelming, with a lot of them bringing underwhelming music. Mix in the artificial personalities and lack of honesty you get an image hard to look at.
But the gems found in the genre shine brightly, for me at least:
"Cant spell 'crap' without rap" lol j/k but I've honestly fell out of love with rap over the period of the last decade, though I've always been a much bigger fan of instruments and vocals.
Here's a few personal favorites.
Psychopath KIller - Slaughterhouse Featuring Eminem and Yelawolf
Calm Down - Tragedy Khadafi Featuring Nas & N.O.R.E.
Classic - DJ Premier Featuring Rakim, Nas & KRS-One
Frontlines - Diabolic Featuring Immortal Technique
DMX - Slippin'
I like rap, but in my opinion most of the rap music that people blast through speakers today is just bad.
nope not realy ☺
Nice to see other people on here listening to Rap, I thought people here only listened to Metal.
Yes sir, Cise starr, Akin + Nujabes = :)
Also check out Substantial & Marcus D if you like this. They go by the name Bop Alloy.
Sorry if this is considered a Necro, I will be more careful next time.
The problem is they don't rap like they used too.....
I listen to pretty much everything, so that includes some rap/hip hop. A lot of it at this point is essentially pop music (just manufactured and processed), but occasionally something good and original comes around.
there's good Hip-Hop you just aren't going to find it in the radio like in the 90s and the 80s. Mainstream HIp-Hop will play music that is hit (or Popular) as apposed to back then where you had to make a good record and actually be skilled.
So Dope - Tech N9ne Feat. Wreckonize, Twisted Insane (Qain lol jk), & Snow Tha Product
Damage - Krizz Kaliko Feat. Snow tha Product
CES Cru - Seven Chakras
[Sidenote: 10 points to whoever can figure where this group sampled this beat from]
QB's Finest Feat. Marley Marl, MC Shan, Mobb Deep, Cormega, Millenium Thug, Capone, Tragedy Khadafi, Nas
Tragedy Khadafi - Permanently Scarred (I Don't Want to Wait)
Slaughterhouse - Hammer Dance
I have a thing for white rappers if you want me to list some really good ones message me and ill let you know.
I like some very selective older rap from the 90s and early 2000s, but I'm by no means a rap enthusiast. I'd link some stuff I like, but its all super popular and my rap noobness would be on full display :D
I especially like rappers that bend and twist words; in my opinion they come up with the most creative stuff
Good shit in this thread, I like a lot of stuff but Mos Def would mos def be my favorite.
