Ok one of my brother in law's coworkers was staying for coffee after he dropped off my brother in law and he at one point saying he had a pc's worth(minus case and PSU) of parts that he does not use and i think he was thinking of giving them to me and so far the only part i have any idea of what it is is the video card(it is either a gtx 470 or 480),and depending on what the other parts i want to put it into my old rig(which i lent to my sister) and it has an ultra xpro 600w psu(http://www.hardwareheaven.com/reviews/558/pg1/ultra-x-pro-600w-introduction-packaging.html). Will it work?
TL;DR Will a Ultra X-pro 600w be enough to power a a gtx 480?
It should work, but the GTX 480s were pretty power hungry.
Try plugging in all your parts into this psu calculator and see what happens:

I like the tldr version. Short answer yes.
If you have 80 dollars laying around buy this you could get something like this
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139040
I did it says
min psu wattage:438
recommended wattage:488
So what do think?
Also if this helps the other parts are a 680i lt mobo,4gb of 1066 ddr2 a 320gb ide drive,a dvd drive,1 case fan,and a coolit domino ALC.
i can't afford one right now,but at some point i will pick one up.
Yeah, it should work fine then. 680i? That's reminiscent of socket 775. What CPU are you going to be running in it?
oh yeah i forgot to list the cpu,it has a q9450,it was my last rig and it is currently running a gtx 460 SE.
GTX 480 will run sweet as a nut, if you plan to overvolt and OC..... prepare for some PSU whine.... it is a card that can pull some serious amps (personal experience with Corsair TX650 and 480)
