I'm curious about how you guys manage your todo lists. Do you use GTD or a similar system and can you recommend any apps in that area? Personally I've tried many tools, but all of them seem to be lacking in one or the other area (like project templates, mobility, workflow, tagging, platform support etc). The best one I've personally tried would be Taskwarrior.
I primarily use Asana which I enjoy, but the support on Android isn't the greatest. It has a high level of integration with many things, and has a lot of functionality that other project/task managers don't have.
I also occasionally use Trello (if my client prefers it) and it works decently.
Less is more. A normal .txt file that i can open with notepad / text editor.
- Max 5 points prioritised. No more. Helps focus.
- For meetings & events I just put them in the calendar.
- Project management type software can be useful if you have a massive project, but not to run your life/work/schedule.
I utilize a combination of OneNote, Notepad, and my favourite: Microsoft Excel-2010. Each platform is applicable to what ever task I'm trying to plan or implement at the time.
In relation to Microsoft Excel, I will initiate VBA 'time & date stamps' aligned with 3D Gannt charts to create an overall plan.
Using something like Asana is definitely overkill unless you have a lot going on, but I automate most of my usage through IFTTT and I already use it for various projects so it just consolidates what I'm already doing on a day to day basis.
If I wasn't already making use of Asana I'd do a more text based approach and just use orgmode (https://sublime.wbond.net/packages/orgmode) which is a Sublime Text package to keep track of things. Not sure if this will work for the OP as it seems like he wants something a bit more robust.
Google Tasks is a very basic option that might also work. There are quite a few browser extensions or mobile apps that make it more accessible and usable.
I tried quite a few, but I mostly settled on Wunderlist for the most part, and I also use Google Keep sometimes.
Love both because they are cross platform. That's very important for me.
I found the "Keep" app on Android to be exceptionally useful, as far as personal todo's go.
Hmm IFTTT looks really nice!
I use the Google Calendar and Google Task... not my favorite choice, but the easyest one. And when it comes to organisation it HAS to be easy in orde to become a habit.
I use apps on my Andoid devices, and a seperate browser which is all the time running on my desktop.
I would try trello.com. It is a really simple FREE list/task/project management tool that I use for everything. Logan, you should check it out, or at lease show it to Pistol and Albert so they can manage your lists with it.
I have a rainmeter notes list on my desktop
I won't go through all the services I've used.. I will say I've been using TickTick for everything (over 600 general "notes" started and completed in about a year), but I've just finished migrating all my outstanding tasks over to Trello. For the record I use these systems for both work and personal topics.
I'd call Trello a "configuration over convention" style tracking system... There are two main points that I love about it: the way it allows you to label any part of it as you need and the way it updates and synchronises instantly across all my devices. Even if you don't end up sticking with it, the time spent investigating it will definitely give you a new way of thinking about time and task tracking. :)
Run a caldav server, and always be on task.
Mine is quite simple, i use Google Keep on Android, it really is all i need for the daily tasks.
Three year necro. Thread is locked.
