Especially on AMD platforms like FM2 where the processor had memory controllers and what not built in.
I'm pretty sure every modern processor has the memory controller built into it....
The only things you have to worry about when it comes to motherboards are the features it has.
I generally look for the power phase design, PCI-E lanes, PCI-E slot spacing, USB 3.0 and 2.0 headers, SATA III ports, and what kind of quality the onboard sound has.
Power delivery, Sata, PCIE, BIOS layout (personal thing), and memory speed. Oh and formfactor, and thats it for me.
