I'm just curious if games make use of SMP configurations. I was wanting to do dual X5670s at stock speeds for rendering and heavy multitasking. Thing is, my desktop is a precision T7500 so this would be a $300 upgrade. I figure that since Star Citizen is power hungry it would benefit from more cores. Another thing, since a single L5639 performs at 70% of that of a 4690x, and an X5660 performs at 90% when oced, is there any reason to drop an extra $100 on dual X5670s when I could do dual X5650s? What would I be looking at in games, with say dual HD 7950s overclocked? My CPUs will stay at stock speeds as I can't OC them on a T7500. Finally, can I OC my GPUs in Catalyst despite my BIOS not having the option?
