Do i need to reseat my heatsink & reapply my thermal paste?

Ok a week ago i moved 300 miles and i had asked about how to pack my rig,and someone said that depending on my heatsink i would need reseat my heatsink & reapply my thermal paste.

Well my cpu cooler is a hyper 212+,also my gpu is a 7970 referance card, should i reseat it also?

Thank you guys for the help.

probably a good idea just to take the gfx card out of the slot and put it right back in, just to be safe and make sure it didn't come loose at all.

as for the heatsink, you should be fine, just visually check and make sure that everything is where it should be on the inside, and maybe just see that the heatsink didn't shift at all. if you start having high cpu temps, then go ahead, reapply and reseat.

i would reseat the gpu, and then run some cpu benchmarks and then decide if it needs reseating depending on the temps

ok what should be normal temps for a stock 8150 with that cooler?

depends on ambient... I would say no more than 70c at idle, if it goes over 80 on prime burn-in, do the reseat

Shoot, my hexacore with it's peletier cooler barely gets over 35 to 40 c running full game mode...

that's gaming, not prime95

well i live in houston,tx(so you know my ambient temp)and i have not done a long burn-in test i was only able to run it for a few minutes before i had to turn off the rig cause i had to leave, but between 2 min of prime95 burn in test and about 10min of games testing before an it only got up to 49c,but i will set it to run before i go to bed and post the results.
