Do I need to plug in the 4 pin CPU connector?

Recently tried using a 1kw PSU that uses a 20 pin for cpus instead of the 4 pin (Precision 690). Do I need to use a converter or will it run without a CPU connector? Everything was free.

this is a cpu power connector

this is a 20 pin motherboard connector

i think you are getting things messed up

if it is a atx spec power supply, then if it has the same pin number and looks the same shape then you should be good

now if it is a cheap chinese knockoff of a power supply then throw it out.

but to answer your question then no get a molex to 4 pin cpu power adapter

Dell power supplies are made for their proprietary motherboards and aren't quite ATX standard. Read this and see what you can switch around
