Hello,
(not sure if this post is in the right forum area)
Today I sat and watched the new video uploaded today (the one about internet security) and as someone with good browsing habits I wondered how relevant the advice in the video is.
Firstly I am quite a paranoid internet user. I run my PC (windows 8 desktop) through my router as most of us do. I use the DNS settings from Unblock-US on my router (being a UK resident who wants to watch US netflix, and not sure if that's a bit naughty or not.) I cough USE cough NET (see what I did there) all the time through SSL and use HTTPS-everywhere plug-in (and have done for ages) including the news provider website's that I frequent. I also watch gentlemen’s relaxation videos and play lots of games (GW2, BF:BC2), watch lots of YouTube, and for the most part don't do anything nefarious other than maybe my interest in conspiracy/alternative news websites.
So, my question is, would the monthly cost of a full VPN service be worth while compared to the information it would be protecting. My internet life is not that interesting and other than my habit of watching/reading alternative news (making a political outcast at some dinner parties) should I look at a VPN?
I have used VPN services in the past but in the end always felt that I was paying for a service that I didn't entirely need.
I keep TOR installed in-case my government goes insane and blocks the web as a whole but I'm not sure I need anything more.
If everyone here thinks I should get a VPN I would like to know WHAT VPN service I can trust at a good price (that will still allow access to US websites from the UK)
Thanks for your thoughts all.
