Hi everyone reading this im going to keep it short simple and straight to the point. Basically you know when you buy shared hosting from somebody and you can mess with the dns and everything will update well basically i want to know how is that that when using cpanel it updates the dns automatically where ever the dns servers are.
basically im running into a issue
- have a home web server i want to use to host my own site. (using cpanel)
- need dns server ( somebody with knowledge about this)
- need the dns server to update automatically like if do forum.example.com to update automtically
- need dns server to update email automaticall
- I NEED HELP WITH CPANEL UPDATING DNS SERVER and how they work
i do have port 80 unblock by my isp and on my router ( pfsense)
if you want/can help with everythign and need access to my cpanel im willing to give it and you never i know i might be able to give you free hosting as a gratitude for helping me :D
Well im not quiet understanding the issue you have. I run a personal server at home running Windows Server 2012 and FreeNAS and i tried running PFSense but i didn't quiet like it so much. Please give me more detail on your issue. If you need to contact me immediately my Skype: cobeyraap
If you are only hosting a handful of websites, you do not need cPanel. Install apache and tinker with the virtual hosts settings. Your domain registrar will probably provide a DNS server, so just point it to your home IP address.
You need a top level DNS server bud, which only big big registrars and corporates have. If you use your own DNS server... just good luck calling Comcast or Google and asking them to add your DNS server as a forwarder. (Not to mention the traffic you'll get if they actually did that.) That is the only way you'll see your domain name exist outside your network.
