Can I use the alpha-DB6 as my main computer. I did not know if it's okay to use since it is open. Im going to be in college for IT this fall and I plan on changing parts often and I like the idea of it being an open Case. Plus I hear it's good for overclocking. But is this okay or will the parts go bad due to dust and stuff. And if I can use this what upkeep do I need to do since it is open
i ran my computer on test bench for awhile too. while there's no real concern other than alot of dust and the obvious like keep it dry and away from metals should be fine. just give it a spray from an air can once in a while and you should be good.
Mine currently is running on a test bench until I can afford a proper case. On a bench though you will need to clean your computer pretty regularly
so just here and there air dust it and keep it away from "everything"
Pretty much, dust it out like every 5 weeks more or less depending on how quickly dust builds up where you live, just keep an eye on the dust
is there any downside to this or is it just as good in performance.
I have run my rig on a test bench for over 10 years. They are the only type of cases I like. Just dust it regularly like others have said. There is no down side except be careful around it but I do make sure that I have air running across the board. I also make covers for my cases for when they are not in use to keep the dust minimized.
