Diy external disk drive (kinda)

Butchered my broken acer for the hard drive, ram and then i had an idea to use the disk drive for my brothers laptop that doesn't have a disk drive, save him from buying an external.

So i wondered if i could just use this cable:

I use an old laptop disk in a cheap enclosure, which has it's own power supply. Certainly the customer reviews look OK for this cable and at less than £2 what have you got to lose.
