Been looking for a specific distro that has high security backbone, high level encryption of files, encrypted connections between hosts. This would be use for my credit cards, banking information, W-2s that i would like to keep secure.
Is there any distro out there that can do that?( I dont really care what DE really)
Tails would be a good place to start.
You could also go with something like Qubes OS and just use burner VMs.
Encryption is not really distro specific. They should all have high level encryption capabilities. And in all honesty, you could just choose any distro you want and lock it down yourself. So you have a pretty wide range of options.
I’d go with Qubes as well…
You could basiclly use pretty much any distro you like.
Just be cautious about what kind of software you install.
But Fedora or Open Suse are well settled distro´s,
based on Redhat Linux Rhel, and Suse Linux Enterprise.

Kidding, not kidding.
We’ve moved on, TempleOS is the next stage of enlightenment.

Properly configured HardenedBSD or OpenBSD with everything built against libressl.
Defaults will only get you so far, gonna have to do a lot of work on any choice you go with. I’ll stake my meaningless forum cred on these two though.

So Qubes with VM of OpenBSD and HardenedBSD (use both, flip between the two), along with TempleOS when you really want to be kewl.
Pros:
You’ll look and sound like a TV show hacker and super computer genius if anyone asks what you are using
Cons:

I think you want tails.
Tails is the best fit for most people. And it has a larger dev community compared to QubesOS.
QubesOS needs more system resources (mostly RAM). And might not be necessary if you only use that install for one purpose and on trusted websites. QubesOS is mostly for separating different activities.
