Distorted audio from Objective DAC Ubuntu 18.10

I have an objective dac (driverless USB dac) and when I use it on Ubuntu 18.10 the audio is all distorted sounding. It can be run at 24-bit 96000khz but I have no idea what setting its using and when I edit the /etc/pulse/daemon.conf nothing I change seems to fix the sound. the sound appears to be in a power pitch and it’s kinda choppy sounding. I don’t know what the issue is or how to fix it and google searches have turned up nothing.

Anyone know of a way to fix this?

Most likely cause of distortion is due to level in Pulseaudio set above 100%
If audio is too quiet when Pulseaudio turned down, audio level in ALSA probably needs turning up

most of the daemon.conf settings are deactivated with a comment tag at beginning of line ( “#” or “;”) that must be deleted to activate setting
Pulseaudio has to be restarted for new settings to be loaded

command pactl list sinks will show information about Pulseaudio playback
