Display Issue with my TV?

I'm going to post this here because i see no other place to put this question

Anyhow

I bought a LG 42" TV. about a year old. And an HDMI cord to run it from my Computer to watch movies on.

When i boot up. IT looks fine  (ta bad resolution on the TV) But the moment my computers on the TV's display switches off, goes back to my monitor (instead of Extending) 

when i try to turn the display back to the TV i just get a "Unable to save display settings" Error. 

(It's plugged into a Radeon 6970) 

If i left out anything just ask i'l reply ASAP

why not just leave it on?

TV's are odd beasts when you are dealing with a computer. The signal processing is different and the EDID data is often just slightly off. Hit up CCC and try to force the display mode there and try to find a setting that allows the display to sleep. Another option is to look for a VGA port on the TV and get a DVI to VGA adapter to hook it up that way, you may have less issues. It has always been a crapshoot for me regarding TV's.
