:(
I had high hopes for this, very disappointed
I get that it is a console port and that I shouldnt have been surprised but I was at least hoping for something better than this.
I absolutely love this series of games and it deserved better.

The Japanese seem to be clueless when it comes to porting to PC. The last Romance of the Three Kingdoms was another example. They released the thing on steam without any language besides Japanese.
Shame I played that game on the PS2 it was very fun.
Frankly I don't get it. The technology, both hardware and software, is well understood by hundreds, if not thousands of developers with various and sundry specialties. These people are available, too.
If you have a game that you want to get on PC for the extra sales & whatnot (which is a great business decision, I think), the logical next step is to hire a development company. There are dozens of these, and many of them would adore the opportunity to make a great port, get paid for the work, and get the extra exposure. I don't understand why more companies don't take this step, though granted there are some (i.e., a minority) really shite porting companies.
TL;DR If you don't have the expertise to port a game, pay someone else who does to do the port. Everyone involved down to the customer will thank you.
Odd
a friend told me it was running fine on his machine (far weaker than mine) so I thought I would bite the bullet and give it a go
... and it runs perfectly fine??
yes the 'pc enhancements' are a pile of poop but other than that the game runs perfect
What's your version #?
But why would you pay for a port to be done externally if you can just do it in house? The people making these decisions don't care if it runs like crap, they can't be bothered with such things.
That's why the current state of game development is the way it is in Japan. The business executives don't get it, they just want to show profit at the least amount of cost invested.
This is borderline consumer fraud and it seems to be getting worse. A complete industry crash is needed. The crash of '83 took out a lot of dead wood.
I played one and two on the NES. I was always Cao Cao:)
I think the crash will start in mobile (most of the shovel were is there) Then cascade to PC and console because AS A devs have put a ton of money into mobile.
Cao Cao is a boss In Three Kingdoms and Dynasty warriors. His writings in the art of war is my favorite. Red cliff is a movie about the three kingdoms as well.
I may have to check that movie out. I tried to read the novel, but I just couldn't get into it. It was too fast paced. Entire battles would take up a meager paragraph.
I just got my Android replaced today and I downloaded Sims Free Play. It was awful to the point of being depressing. When I see these new triple A games being reviewed on Youtube, all I see is laziness and cut corners. Street Fighter V is a good example.
As far as I'm concerned, it's a toss up which sector will collapse first.
Edit: After doing a little thinking, I believe that EA will unravel and take down the industry like Atari did.
Square, Capcom or Ubisoft will be second
Alot of american companies are like that too.
Unregulated capitalism does that to people. If it's your job to make sure the company posts profits in the + every quarter, some CEOs and other board members stoop to unscrupulous tactics to make that money. Even if it is at the detriment to the consumer using/buying the product/service in question.
I hope Konami goes first.
I doubt if they will even survive to see the crash:)
You can get away with that on things you need or are required to have, like food or insurance. We don't need video games. Look at the post by the gentleman who started this thread. He obviously is a fan of the series and sees this port as a slap to the face. You can't do that and expect to survive. You'll get away with it for awhile, but capitalism can be very punishing. It's pretty much at the breaking point now. When your customers see that you don't care at all about your product or respect the money or time that they (the customers) invest in it, it won't be long till your customers quit being forgiving and vote with their wallets.
