Hey, so I noticed the Discogs database does NOT have/include everything and was wondering what some other alternative options are/would be that you can recommend.
Database can be integrated into stuff, and they built a stand-alone tagger with integrated lookup. Especially awesome is their AcoustID that can identify songs from the audio contents, even if there’s no valid metadata.

Both MusicBrainz and Discogs have some of the best catalogs, but no source has everything. Both accept submissions to add items they don’t already have.
Definitely second MusicBrainz+Picard.
For Musicbrainz, there are some decent userscripts that help get a start in scraping info off of other sites, so a new release is just a couple of clicks away. With these scripts, it actually can be quicker to add an entry in the Musicbranz DB, and fill in tags with Picard as it would to fill in manually, and then you are benefiting anyone else using Musicbrainz.
Scraping from discogs, bandcamp, deezer, etc
Itunes
If that is your expectation you’re going to be disappointed in the long run. No database is ever complete, or even correct for that matter.
That being said, Musicbrainz is probably the biggest and most useful database to date and is integrated in a lot of applications already.
Also discogs was originally built with only electronic music in mind and that is still the larger part of the database. Everything else came quite a bit later.
