DirectX 12 shootouts show AMD with performance lead over Nvidia

--this is point 1 --- 1) it has nothing to do with finances.

if finances matter at this point, then amd wouldn't be able to release new gpu. Yet they have technology already here. Nvidia doesn't. Thats why they can release. It has nothing to do with finances now.

I don't think nvidia is as fiscally sound, as its made out to be - they do not invest into async(its been 6-7months since nv stated they'll release async driver fix 'soon', its still not here.) - but trying to get gameworks onto dx12 latest fail of gear of wars is attempt. This shows company ignores hardware and goes to software, as they sorely lack technological / hardware expertise.

and yes, my point of amd loosing 20% of their market is not releasing new gpu for almost whole year while they were sitting on technology and engineering samples (they were sending them to developers to play with but market didn't get sh*t). Samsung will not buy them, as IBM sees no point in it. Intel and AMD are there to fill consumer markets and acquire technology for IBM. Thats their sole reason of existence, most technology companies are shadow fronts of IBM, and Samsung is also one of them. Why use your own company to acquire your company? Pretty much most of Taiwanese, Korean, Japanese technology companies and most of American will keep amd around because amd fills business and accomplished many things politically and technologically. When AMD is in trouble all those companies are coming to help out, even intel (lending FinFET to global foundries and samsung for pretty much free).

on your last point
If nvidia thinks they can afford to slack because they have higher market, they are sorely wrong. They do not posses hardware technology prowess that AMD has access to. This is leading to future splinting of whole game/gpu world (and splint will only get bigger with time, and dx12/vulkan adoption) Strategically i think ibm wants to bring nvidia as proprietary board like ageia, and simply use one of the companies to buy them up. Company with technology behind like intel.

Nvidia has been working with game dev's giving it edge; but due to controversies one after another - studio's are simply walking away from gameworks. It was strong year for gameworks as they managed to sell them in many titles. With dx12 and what we can call history now that people are somewhat educated on gameworks - you'll see far less gamework titles, going on forward.
