Differences with Steam and GOG

Does games on GOG work the same as they do with Steam, even though it says on GOG that they are for Windows/Mac?

Cause Amnesia and Puddle are made for Linux on Steam, but are they made for Linux on GOG as well? Or does Steam have Linux games cause they themselves are making it for Linux?

I have Amnesia and Puddle on Steam and GOG, that's why I'm asking.

Thanks!

The games are the same, the DRM isn't, Steam uses it's own DRM, and in order for the games to continue to function, the Steam client has to be able to "phone home" every once in a while, whereas this is not the case with GOG, where the games have no DRM system, once you buy the license and download the game, you can use it on an offline machine.

Alright, is there a way to give away old steam games or is it stuck with me once the code is used?

Once you use a steam code for yourself, it's stuck with you.

Damn, starting to dislike steam now.. anyone heard anything about their game sharing? Or is it still at "maybe going to happen"?

never gonna happen

So far there have only been rumors, but after a quick search I found this:

http://store.steampowered.com/sharing/

http://steamcommunity.com/groups/familysharing

Apparently you can share certain title games with up to 10 family members or close friends. However, regional limitations will still be in place.

Awesome, I've signed up, now I might actually be able to do something with the games on my list instead of just gathering dust lol.

They're doing a closed beta in mid September. Its happening.
