How much performance increase would i get is i used a typical 1tb 7200 rpm hdd VS a 1tb Hybrid 8gb caching 5400rpm ?
All disks are 2.5"
I have a 500/4GB cache hybrid drive on my laptop. I got it for my old laptop which ran very slow since I got out in 2008 and maxed out its 2GB ram capacity. At first, there was a noticeable speed difference, but then over time it seemed to have slowed down.
Even since I slapped in on my new windows 8 laptop, it seems pretty speedy. Not quite SSD speeds but somewhat close. If you're using the hybrid drive on a Windows 8 machine, I say go for it, otherwise, you're better off going with Western Digital's dual drive, which as 120GB SSD and 1TB HDD all in one drive.
