So I bought a new Haswell CPU to replace my power hungry AMD FX 4130. Needless to say while opening the package. The plastic insert with the CPU in it slipped out of the packaging and straight into my cats water bowl. I immediately removed it from insert and blew all the water off with compressed air and am leaving it out to dry until the motherboard comes in on Monday. Do you think I destroyed it or will it survive to live another day.. -_-
Electronics in water are fine, providing that do not have power being supplied to them. Just dry it and it will be fine.
Thats what I thought, I was just paranoid and need some reassurance that it wasn't dead. Hopefully when everything else arrives Monday it works like a charm!
I would suggest cleaning the contact pads and heat spreader with alcohol.
