So I've been playing as the Witch Doctor and he's just the bee's knees. With all of the pets you can summon, and area of effect damage, it's ridiculous. I just got to Act 2 and I'm only level 16, but the game is still amazing. 

Anyone have any suggestions as to which items to use or which abilities/runes to use as well?

Or what other kind of classes/items/abilities/runes do you use other than the Witch Doctor?

Well for the witch doctor, you're going to want to get your intelligence as high as possible in order to amplify the amount of damage you do. I started out with a witch doctor just because I thought it would be different, but I switched to a demon hunter, and I've been liking him a lot more.
