It isn’t.
Though the biggest culprit is the GPU. As Ryzen doesn’t have an iGPU it has to use the RX 580 for everything instead of switching to low powered integrated graphics. Really hurts battery life.

Yup. Raven Ridge is supposed to be out sometime this quarter. Prob end of this month to the middle of next month so they can get in Black Friday and holiday sales.
But those will max out at 4 cores.

Eh 4/8 is as good as intel mobile, so if power is better then might be worth the wait

Yeah, the RX 580 is more power hungry than the Ryzen CPU.
If you like those, try to find a 15" 2015 model. No emoji bar, lots of ports, haswell but still fast, bigger battery, … It is a good laptop.
