I have tried iTunes, Doubletwist & Windows Media Player but have not been to pleased with them. What I want from the media player is that it easily syncs with my htc (running android 2.3.4). And by all means if you think one of the apps i just mentioned is the best, feel free to disagree and tell why you like one of them.
winamp? Foobar?
As above, Winamp and Foobar2000 are the 2 best.
Foobar is light, has a nice simple layout that you can fully customize, and has the best quality audio, although if your a beginner it does take time to get used to and can be a bit confusing and less straight forward.
Winamp is easy to use from the off, has better plugins like a better crossfader and is ready to use, has good quality audio to my ears on par with Foobar, although you cant customize the layout and it is a bit more 'heavy'
I like to use both
OCremix has a plugin for winamp called Chipamp that's basically codecs for video game music data like on the Gameboy
WinAmp is pretty good, and it has a free android app that allows you to sync up your phone and stream music.
I've never used foobar, but have heard nothing but good things about it.
Winamp and Foobar2000 I love winamp personally... If you you want to sync music with your phone just use google music.
Is drag-and-drop really that much a burden? Just use MPC-HC or for more simplicity, VLC.
i use VLC for everything, but before i did use winamp. i can only say great things about it. has lots of functionality, and you can get some cool visualizations for music and shit, (paired with the desktop mode, and transparent windows makes some damn awesome eye candy)
google music will sync your stuff in the cloud and play on any windows with the google music app for windows. You can even download directly from the cloud to have a hard copy but if your collection is massive this will take forever. Will also work for google tv. Not tried ROKU.
Clementine.
Have you guys tried doubletwist?
There is nothing even close to Foobar2000. You can do just about anything with it. I keep telling myself that I am going to make a series of tutorials on it but I never get around to it.
It has the best sound quality (out of the box, you can make winamp sound just as good), it is the most customizable, you can sync your iPod with it, you can add plugins, it's very lightweight, etc.
I'm looking into doubletwist... never heard of it.
Foobar2k is the king for music, for video MPC-HC is the king for quality.
I do love foobar, but one thing recently that made me change to winamp was that the crossfade plug in for foobar is rubbish.. that's the only thing bad about foobar for me (othjerwise its perfect) but it's also quite important hence I moved to winamp because it has a good crossfader, it sounds as if its being mixed by a DJ.
Have you got a good crossfader for foobar? if so I will without hesitation use foobar again.
As it is I switch between both but use Winamp for my playlists because of the crossfader.
The crossfader I have on Foobar is the grapeless, and its pants.
i wish i could get better with foobar2k but i got no time ,i use mediamonkey now
double post :(
I never really thought it too complex. At least for me, I use a very simple default view with columns UI. Probably takes about as much time to set up as a fresh Firefox install would.
Hands down, Foobar2000; ever since Logan mentioned Foobar before, I had never touched any other music player. If you do get Foobar, do search for some equalizer presets.
Just downloaded foobar. What UIs are you guys using?
