Desk PC build

Finally got my CPU lid off and attached my block to it directly... I couldn't stop myself once I started, and decided that my entire PC belonged "in" my desk.... Here are the Photos.

Haswell Lid - One Core was very hot where the paste didn't touch

Bought a Phobya Extreme 1260 Rad off ebay for 120 GBP. Here's the test mounting with Steel Wire :-

Test Loop :-

This is the Pump station Test - 2 Ehien @ 3000 l/hr subs

Draw I'm going to mount the PC in :-

Test Setup of PC on hacksawed BitFenix Protege - The 2 cards are 12 volt AC converters for the pumps, overclocked to pump 1500 l/hr per pump.

I'm only using the bottom draw.

Fan hole cut into the draw - for Bitfenix 230mm (its really a 200)

Vandal Switch hole cut and mounted (I prefer the bolt on the outside for some reason...)

PC Mounted in Draw with Fan :- (The green and White Tubes are just temps so I know In-Out Config)

Pump Config under Desk :-

Final Rad Mount and tidied a bit :- The runs are long so I can open and close the draw.

I filled the entire bucket with water. This way its super quiet. The Rad has sponge underneath it to for airflow + silence.

Draw Open :-

Draw Closed :-

All working!!! Basically Silent build.

Cool project. What are your next steps? You should add pictures of the desk itself for reference.

It's basically done...

I can't take a photo unfortunately, I just lent my camera to a friend... It's basically the same as my old build on the outside, just with more desk space. I've posted the pic on here too many times, so I don't want people to get angry, anyway, its the same but with the monitor on the desk and the case gone.

Here are the temps if your interested:-

Stock Prime 95 Running 30 min

4.5 basic OC (I have a Gimped i5k unfortunately):- Prime 95 Running 30 min

GPU Stock -975/1500

GPU OCed :- 1250/1600

Nice! Really cool build (pun totally intended)

I see you used plastic barbs i've seen those floating around before. aren't they like 50 cents a piece? are they sturdy? I would have been nervous getting something so cheap in the expensive realm of water cooling.

Nice build...is that an American Standard Strat? :D

No, its a 1987 Japanese Strat I picked up when I was a student in Japan from a Garage Sale.

It looks exactly the same!!! I actually think it plays better that the US ones. Japanese people in the 1980s where very good at copying and woodwork.

Yeap, they are dirt cheap.

Those things are the easiest fittings to own. I rarely use hose connectors on them (I did here because the desk draw pulls a bit). I have been using them for about 10 years and they never leak. I also own an assortment of expensive fittings that I never use, because those are so good. This build is in a draw so I don't have to worry about looks.

Watercooling doesn't have to be expensive. People go completely overtop. Submersible pumps are very cheap, quiet and never clog up (they suck up fish poo all day long normally). You don't need 2 x DC5 for 200 dollars with the res when you can buy a 3500 l/hr sub for $30 and a plastic box to put it in for $5 (its good value even if it only does half):-

Of course, it won't be 12v. If you go up in value AlphaCool make convert boards etc for Ehein Pumps (top of the range aquarium pumps) that are half the price of a decent normal setup.

Also don't buy hosing from the watercooling companies, you can get it off Ebay for way cheaper. For hose clips use $0.25 motorcycle hose clips.

Barbs cost about $ 1.50 each.

I got that entire Rad and 4 fans off ebay for 120 GBPs, you will never need more (until you reach quad SLI..... or something really silly).

I'm one of those people guilty of going over the top lol I have a build log on here its titled bloodshed build log if you're curious.
