Descent low cost tablet

Shopping for a tablet and looking for recommendations? Im looking 7-10 inches preferably something closer to 10. For basic browsing, app games, portable video player, 32gb internal storage or expandable running android preferable vanilla so i don't have to root. I have it narrowed down to either the EVGA Tegra Note 7 or nexus 10 unless someone can recommend something better.

Edit: By low cost I mean something between $200 and $400.

Nexus 7 is by far the best 7in tablet currently available.

the EVGA is $179.99 and the Nexus is $199.99. I dont see the Nexus bring anything more to the table. The Nexus has a higher resolution display but I dont see that as being a deal breaker on such a small display. The Tegra has the benefit of the NVIDIA Tegra 4 and the stylus which I find more suited for my needs with app games.

Edit: just found a video comparing the 2.

Edit 2: after watching the video I am more sure on the Tegra note 7. The Nexus display is nice and the stylus and faster processor in the Tegra are nice however the superior front facing audio and expandable storage seal the deal.

The nexus 7 does have faster updates and is easier to root/ put other Linux distros on it.

Well they both have bone stock android so I wont be rooting and the Tegra has been very good with updates thus far.

The nexus 7 has 2GB of RAM versus the 1GB of the Tegra note. There will be a noticeable difference in quite a few situations due to that.

The Nexus 7 will get new updates long before other tablets and will have guaranteed future updates.

Nexus 10 by far in my opinion, nicest ppi at 10 inches, looks like the one for you.

I can say from experience that there is a massive difference between 1280x800 and 1920x1200 at 7 inches.  Trust me, the extra dollars you invest in the Nexus 7 will be well worth it.

I would go with the Nexus 7 or maybe pick up one of those Dell Venue Pro thingies that cost $300 if you are into x86.  Alternatively, get a Chromebook and put Arch on it.  Heard that is a good investment

I liked my asus memo hd 7 and i noticed they just came out with a new version. Heres a review

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MOo54_05fPU I will never purchase a tablet without abilty to expand storage. So nexus 7 just sucks to me.

Any tablet running entirely stock Kit Kat 4.4 OS cannot use SD for apps and such anyways. Googles gimmick to get you to use cloud and give up more privacy. I went with a Venue 8 Pro 64gb model with a 64gb SD card and the full windows 8.1. Previous to it I had the Tegra Note and the only thing I miss about it is front facing speakers(which are freakin awesome) other than that I like my V8P.

Asus wont let anything by without their bloatware but some of it nots too bad.

So you choose windows for more privacy. lol

Nexus 7(latest edition) is the best to get imo.

I have a nexus 7 and its great but I would say wait it out. There has been rumors flying around for the past couple months that google might be releasing or showing the successor to the nexus 7 this summer aka the nexus 8 with a 64 bit intel processor. I mean even if the nexus 8 is showed off the summer but not released the sales for nexus 7s will rise to clear them out for the nexus 8. If you cant wait at all then I would go for the nexus 7 32gb, its a great tablet with an amazing screen.
