Derptarded Laptop

I'm sorry if this isn't the right section, I can't seem to find a section that Laptop's would fit in which isn't surprising, seeing as how Laptop's are just absolute hell (at least for me).

Anyways, here's the story/issue:

My sister gave me her old laptop a while back (still a fast laptop; 2008), and the battery in it was a bit funny. It would not be detected under any circumstances, and it was like that WELL before I got it from her. Probably a few years before then. Anyways, some time ago, I somehow got it to work. It was unintentional, and therefore I have no idea how I got it to, but it started working again. This made me very happy cause now I didn't have to have it bound to my wall at all times, it's now as a laptop should be; portable. But, yesterday, it randomly stopped working and is undetectable yet again. I don't understand why, and all I want to know is how in dafuq I can get it to start working again. Any help is greatly appreciated!

PS: It's a Dell Studio 1535 with a Core 2 Duo T5750, 4GB of RAM, 250GB Hard Drive, Intel GM965 Express Graphics, etc. if it helps.

Most probably a cold solder in the battery.

Solution is buy a replacement. drbattery.com is a very nice and trust worthy place. Their batteries are at least 1y warrantied too.

throw your laptop and buy another one

The battery is probably completely toast on that pile.

Sounds like a bad solder joint in the power connector to the motherboard.
