Did a search on various forums and didn’t find anything conclusive.
I’m running a DL580 G9 with v4 Xeons and DDR3 and it runs rock solid but the R930 looks to be a way better configuration. I’m wondering if anyone has direct experience running a Dell R930 with a v4 Xeon CPU and DDR3
and before anyone says “WTH DDR3? What year is this? Just use DDR4 it’s faster bruh!”
A) No
B) This thing smokes the sh*t out of my dual 64c DDR4 2933 Epyc with 1TB RAM for my use-case.
C) Go look at how much DDR3 costs.
I don’t know for certain, but I’m pretty sure if you have the jordan creek 1 memory risers it will work. Dell has historically been less likely to artificially lock out “unsupported” configurations than HP.
The dell jordan creek 1 and jordan creek 2 memory risers are the same footprint so they should be interchangeable like how the HP has them.
Thanks - also any idea if PCI-E bifurcation is supported on the R930? I’m thinking no.
It’s been awhile since I’ve had one available to me, but I remember Dell releasing a BIOS update after release that let you set slot bifurcation on some of the slots… memory is alittle hazy on that though.
