I recently snagged a Dell Latitude 5400 laptop built in 2019 with an i5-8265u processor, my friend that I got this from threw in a random 128GB Sandisk sata ssd into the m.2 slot and called it good, I wanted more storage so I grabbed a 500 GB nvme SSD and threw that in, it won’t recognize the drive. everything I’m seeing online and in the documentation on the dell website says it should support NVME but I feel like I’m taking crazy pills cause it just won’t see the drive in the BIOS. I’ve scoured the BIOS settings looking for something that might change the M.2 slot from like a sata mode to pcie mode but I’m finding nothing. I’m hoping one of you wizards on here can help me out.
Edit: I got my least favorite type of fix. I did a reset to factory settings in the BIOS and it’s working fine now. Still no idea what caused it.
