I was bored and decided to read the instruction booklet for a swiftech h220 I just picked up and I noticed one step says "Clean the CPU with a degreaser (preferably formulated for electronics). I've never heard of anybody doing this before. Is it necessary?
alcohol is best. as in isopropyl... rubbing alcohol
as an aftermarket cooler swiftech is porbably giving instruction for a second install
if it's the first install only clean the top of the heat spreader before application of the "TIM"
some 90% or purer alcohol will rapidly evaporate. use a coffee filter to wipe it on and a few seconds to
let it dry
