Dedicated Minecraft server build - advise would be nice :)

Hello i am thinking of building a mini-itx server to host 1 or 2 minecraft servers on, 24/7. I will give a list of my items and the idea behind them. Any input would be greatly appreciated

case

Cooler Master Elite 120.

PSU.

Corsair Builder Series CXM 430W Modular 80 PLUS Bronze Certified ATX/EPS PSU

motherboard

AsRock FM2A85X-ITX Motherboard (Socket FM2, AMD A85X, 2x DDR3, S-ATA 600, Mini ITX, PCI Express 2.0)

APU (CPU + GPU) - One chip for both cpu and graphics to cut down on heat and insanly good bang for your buck.

AMD (Trinity) A10-5800K Black Edition Quad-Core Socket FM2 Unlocked Accelerated Processor

Ram- Spent more on this as the server will be loaded into the ramdisk (1-4GB) instead of the ssd, also minecraft eats a hell of alot of ram.

16GB (2x8GB) G.SKILL RipjawsX 1866MHz CL10 DDR3 Dual/Quad Channel Kit [F3-14900CL10D-16GBXL]

SSD - just to run os and for general increased speed. server backups will be done via external usb.

OCZ 60GB Agility 3 SSD

many thanks :) michael.

without a budget we cant say to much for certain dude

You won't need the graphical power of the APU. You could get am AM3+ Phenom II x4, x6, or FX-4300 for roughly the same price, which would deliver much more power in the CPU department.

i am at £400 at the moment , but i can stretch to 450-500 . And thanks for the CPU advice, would i need a dedicated graphics card along with a CPU.

Thanks guys.

well i would do an intel dual core xeon build, based around this cpu:

http://www.scan.co.uk/products/intel-xeon-e3-1220l-v2-ivy-bridge-s1155-dual-core-23ghz-3mb-smart-cache-23x-ratio-175w-oem

it has tdp of 17.5watts

i would also use ecc memory with it to ensure 24/7 uptime, after that's one of the main reason's error corection code memory was invented, reliability. also the more the better

i would also get a low end nvidia keplar gpu, once again for the low power draw

http://www.cclonline.com/product/96917/ZT-61001-10M/Graphics-Cards/ZOTAC-GeForce-GTX-650-1GB-Graphics-Card/VGA0899/?siteID=8BacdVP0GFs-jNf5yJPLIQO2gdAIuizERQ

the 650 is the cheapest keplar out there at the moment all the other 600 series cards below it are still on fermi, meaning they eat energy for breakfast....

having a caching ssd would be useful aswell.

hope this helped
